Our bodies have an innate survival system called the sympathetic nervous system, designed to handle stress or danger.
Often triggered by everyday pressures, it keeps us on high alert, even when we want to rest.
A hyperactive sympathetic nervous system makes it hard for the body to transition to a relaxed state.
This can manifest as racing thoughts, physical tension, and difficulty winding down.
Understanding this helps us see that these feelings aren’t about something being wrong, but about a body in over-drive.
The key is learning to soothe our nervous system to activate the parasympathetic state.
